Michael S. Marandola, M.D.
Dr. Marandola specializes in arthroscopic, reconstructive, joint preservation and joint replacement surgery of the shoulder, hip and knee, practicing in Orange County, CA. He has the following qualifications:

Dr. Marandola received his bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in philosophy, earning summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa honors from Boston University. He earned his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine where he received Alpha Omega Alpha honors and was sole recipient of his class' Gross Anatomy Award. He completed a surgical internship and an orthopedic surgery residency at University of California, Irvine Medical Center. During his residency, Dr. Marandola earned two research awards, served as chairman of an international orthopedic meeting for the American Orthopedic Association, and received sports medicine training at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic Los Angeles.
Dr. Marandola is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with additional sub-specialty board certification in orthopedic sports medicine. He specializes in complex arthroscopic shoulder, hip and knee reconstruction, preservation surgery and in the replacement of these joints. He maintains a high level of proficiency and expertise in these sub-specialties. He also has expertise in orthopedic trauma, fracture care, and general orthopedics.
Dr. Marandola is active in medical staff leadership and serves on the Joint Replacement and Orthopedic Executive Committees at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center, where he has also served as Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a member of the Physician Management Committee at California Specialty Surgery Center. He has served on the Executive Board of the Orange County Chapter of the Western Orthopedic Association.
Dr. Marandola maintains active community involvement in sports medicine by volunteering his time as team physician/orthopedist for Saddleback Valley Christian Schools and San Juan Hills High School in San Juan Capistrano.
Dr. Marandola was named as an Orange County Medical Association Physician of Excellence in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. He was “Top Doctor” recipient of the Orange Coast Magazine in 2014.
In his spare time, Dr. Marandola enjoys spending time with his wife and family, vacationing in the desert and in his home state of Rhode Island. He also enjoys exercising, skiing and home maintenance.
