My name is Jeff. I am 58 years old, in excellent health, a father, husband, business leader, and up until 3 yrs ago was extremely active. My life changed when I hit a rock surfing in Mexico. My injury caused intense crippling pain in the right leg. I thought I damaged my hip but, after months of rehab we found that the pain was caused by a bulging disc hitting the sciatic nerve. At times the pain was so intense that I could not walk, sit or move for weeks at a time. My only option was pain meds (I despise pain meds!), the couch and full time care. I have spent the last three years in and out of different Doctors offices. I have had multiple epidurals, MRI’s and rehab programs. I've tried Rolfing, traction and even some eastern meditation to eliminate the pain. Each of the treatments gave me temporary to zero relief. I needed help but had no idea where to turn. After asking around I got a couple of names and started researching the who’s who of back doctors. I chose Dr Michael Burdi based on web based reviews, word of mouth and convenience. I was hoping that I had the right Doc but who knows…

My first surgery was a discectomy. Dr Burdi performed a successful surgery, unfortunately, I had a reherniation months later and was again out of commission. Based on my situation and the condition of my disc, Dr Burdi suggested a fusion of the L4 L5 vertebrae in lue of a second discectomy. I was extremely nervous about such an invasive surgery. Would I surf again, could I travel for work or continue to drive and restore my vintage cars? Would I be able to spend quality time with my wife and kids? One of my jobs is Business coach and I believe that people in any profession should strive to be the best. They should be confident but not cocky and a master of their craft. How was I going to figure out if Dr Burdi had what I was looking for? I was overwhelmed and unsure of what I should do. At a crossroads, I stepped back from the situation and I did what I do when I am interviewing business partners or doing deals. I based my decision on character and grit. Simply put I asked myself, “is my teammate or future teammate in it to win it?”

Three days before the surgery we met for our final pre op meeting and Dr Burdi could see the fear in my eyes. He knew how uncertain I was about moving forward with surgery. He knew what I'd been through and where I was heading without surgery. He gave me a very empathetic look and said in the most humble and confident way,” Jeff, I’ve got this… I am REALLY good at what I do. You’ll be fine.” Maybe it was the tone of his voice or the look in his eyes, I’m not sure but, at that moment I knew I had the right surgical team. He and his medical assistant Tyler had performed hundreds of these surgeries and with a high degree of success. They were the right choice and they had the track record to prove it. The surgery went well. Post op I had no need for pain meds and I started walking unassisted day two. I’m only a few weeks post surgery but things are looking up. I am walking, sitting, driving, working and going to PT. I am so thankful for their hard work and sticking with me through a very dark uncertain time. I highly recommend Dr Burdi and his PA Tyler Waldron. They are truly masters of their craft!
  • Saw Amanda again for a continuing issue. She was so professional and kind and really took time to listen to my concerns. And very punctual which shows respect for other people’s time. That’s my favorite part. All the support staff we also incredibly kind and professional. I’ve also seen Dr. Thomas in the past who is equally a 5-star physician. Would highly recommend anyone in this practice. They’re a class-act.

  • My experience with Community Orthopedic Group, Dr. Adamson and PA Charles could not have been better. I am thrilled with this and the results from my surgery. Throughout the six month process, I never had to wait more than fifteen minutes for an appointment. The medical staff as well as the supporting office staff were always 100% professional, compassionate, capable, and best of all, happy! It was an excellent experience, with excellent results to my well-being.

  • Very, very pleased with this facility, overall care and Dr. Gardner. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to get an appointment very quickly for a chronic Achilles issue. Dr. Gardner took his time, had new Xrays done and discussed options. We decided to go back to the basics and see if that helps to alleviate my issue. I can't say enough good things about the entire experience so far - all of the staff I interacted with were great. Highly recommend!

  • I saw Dr. Adamson yesterday for a follow up visit on my knee. He diagnosed the issue & explained to me a Bakers cyst is extremely painful when it burst. I'm happy now that I can resume my daily activities knowing i'll probably have minor issues for a while which are normal. Dr. Adamson is an outstanding doctor/surgeon.

  • I've been under orthopedic treatment since early childhood football injuries to my knees in the early 1970's. While my father was an MD, I've always had best possible medical care but over the past 23 years since I began treatment at COMG, I must say they are the best orthopedic care I've ever had. 5-6 years ago I sustained a ruptured shoulder but fly back from Phoenix for Dr. Adamson's attention - so glad I did. In 11/19, I had a rt knee replacement by Dr. Adamson. Same results. Quick recovery, minimal pain, best care I've ever had.

  • I am posting this for my husband Steve. Dr. Adamson is a very good and caring doctor. He really listens to his patients and shows that he cares about them. My husband first went to see Dr. Adamson after his primary care physician suggested he see a specialist when his knee pain was not subsiding after several months since the initial onset. Dr. Adamson physically checked my husband's knee and listened carefully to my husband's story as to how the injury ocurred. He then ordered an MRI and was able to identify that my husband had an insufficiency fracture and a slightly torn meniscus. Dr. Adamson is very conservative and not eager to perform surgery unless necessary. He monitored my husband's condition for a little over half a year. Only when we all became convinced that the healing of the insufficiency fracture, which often heal on their own, had plateaued and was no longer improving, did we decide on surgery. Every step of the way, Dr. Adamson carefully explained the options and the possible outcomes. The outpatient arthroscopic surgery went incredibly smooth. My husband experienced relatively little pain and only needed to take Tylenol for about a week. Dr. Adamson filled the insufficiency fracture with calcium phosphate and he trimmed the minor meniscus tear. The four small incisions completely healed without leaving any scars. My husband's knee is now very sound and he once again has full confidence going up and down stairs, etc. Dr. Adamson believes that this surgery will most likely assure that my husband will not need an artificial knee sometime in the future. You cannot go wrong seeing Dr. Adamson at Community Orthopedic Medical Group.

  • What a fantastic facility. They were able to get me in just a few days after I called for an appointment, which I found most unusual and refreshing. The entire staff was kind and helpful, even giving me detailed directions as the location is a bit difficult to locate from normal traffic. Everyone from Celia at the front desk, to the medical assistant, to the X-ray tech and finally to the knowledgeable yet approachable, Doctor Gardner was exceptional. The office was clean and efficient. I hate to wish an orthopedic issue on anyone, but if you find yourself with one I highly recommend Community orthopedic.

  • From an accident that left my lower leg in 13 pieces and a broken collarbone to two broken wrists, to a knee replacement and help with arthritis, I would never go anywhere else. The doctors are the best and the staff is everything you could want in a medical situation. I would and have recommended this group to friends and anyone I've met looking for an orthopedic group.

  • Dr Marandola is top notch in my book. He has tended to my wife's foot and knee problems for a few years, ending with a total knee replacement in May. She is doing great and is walking all over Kentucky on vacation now His expertise and bedside manner make you very comfortable. Highly recommend him and his PA's Scott and Jason.

  • This is my second surgery with Dr. Marandola. I would not want anyone else because he IS the best. This medical group is the best and extremely professional. I would highly recommend Community Ortho. I work out in the gym 5 days a week and use free weights. Both times, I have come back each time 95 percent. I know guys with same surgery and at most have 60 percent success rate!!

  • I have been seeing Dr. Thomas and Amanda off and on for the arthritis in my knees. They are both very good at explaining what is needed and neither one have tried to "sell" a procedure. When the cortisone shots and synvisc shots no longer worked an mri was done to see the deeper problem. Next was the scope and cleaning of the right knee joint. The staff was very friendly and attentative. I was home in a couple of hours with very little pain. Hopefully this will solve my knee issue, but if it doesn't I will not hesitate to have Dr. Thomas do a full replacement.

  • Within the past Three years I have had two Major surgery's. A left Shoulder Replacement, and A Partial Left Knee Replacement. Both Surgery's were done by the same Doctor. Doctor Marandola, M.D. at Community Orthopedic Medical Group. I am 76 years old and I am a avid Water Skier, and Mountain Bike Rider. With having either of these surgery's I was very concerned that I may be told both your Water Skiing and Mountain Bike Riding days are Over. If that where the case I would have ignored it and done my physical therapy for as long as allowed and tried to press on with my two favorite Sports. After the completion of each surgery Dr. Marandola told me, it may take some time but if you listen to your Physical Therapist I believe you will be just fine. He said you have got two live, and your the only one that can make that happen if your willing to work hard exercising and rebuilding Shoulder ( after my Left Shoulder Replacement) and he told me the same after My Left Partial Knee Replacement.). Not the case with my Two first Physical Therapist. Both of them told me Water skiing is over and I doubt you will ever be able to do the Mountain Bike riding again. Maybe a street Bike Level ground, and no climbing steep hills over rocks or boulders. Very concerned with what I was told I started asking around and trying to find another good PT Therapist. I had an appointment with Dr. Marandola and he said lets give Calif. Rehab a try. This was after my First operation, The Left shoulder replacement. It had been about 3 to 4 months after the initial operation and he said my shoulder was doing very well but that it is going to take time. DON'T GIVE UP.

  • I've been treating with various physicians at Community Orthopedic Medical Group since 1999. I love that most of he doctors specialize, dividing the practice literally by which part of my body needed attention. I've used one physician for back surgery, another for hand surgery, and another when I broke a few toes. Having a physician that specializes on specific parts of the body has I believe provided me with the best of the best in times of need. Who can know everything about everything? This is why I have, and will continue to use Community Orthopedic Medical Group for my Orthopedic needs. Additionally, my husband has had hand, knee and rotator cuff surgeries using COMG as well with equally excellent outcomes.

  • Dr. Burdi and office staff were very helpful and concerned about my lower back problem. Doctor tried several different procedures, and left it up to me whether or not I wanted to have surgery. At this time, I decided against surgery and decided to have physical therapy. I may still have to have surgery, but I'm determined to try a different route. To be continued

  • I recently underwent a total hip replacement by Dr. Thomas. This was the most professional procedure I've had, from the anesthesiologist to the post surgical care. This team is truly miracle workers. In only four weeks my pain is gone and I am walking like a young man again.i

  • Dr. Tocci helped relieve pain from a previous surgery and was honest in telling me it might not be perfect but would help. It has and is much better than it was. He doesn't rush you and listens. He, Charles and his staff are great and would highly recommend them.

  • Dr. Kent Marangi, at Community Orthopedic Medical Group, is a great doctor! I’ve had bicep tendon repair surgery on my shoulder and two knee replacement surgeries. Incredible, I can’t even tell that I’ve had surgery. I am very active and enjoy sports. I am almost 70 and it has not restricted me from doing what I love. Friends, of mine, that have had knee replacement surgery complain their knees are not the same and they are unable to stay active. Honestly, I can’t even tell that my knees have been replaced. They feel the same as before surgery. This was all possible because of Dr. Marangi. I have been recommending Dr. Marangi to friends and people that I’ve met at the gym for orthopedic problems. Even my son and daughter have been attended by Dr. Marangi. I cannot start to express my gratitude to Dr. Marangi for the treatment and care of myself and family
  • I was treated at COMG by Dr Marandola for an injured rotator cuff. They did a lot of testing incluind xrays and even an MRI to make sure they gave me the best treatment available so I can get back to full motion again. The staff was awesome!
  • I want to thank the team at COMG for their exceptional service! Rather than having me go the emergency room and wait for hours to be evaluated and treated for a cut on my hand needing stitches, they were able to squeeze me in to see them in their office and get me out the door in a very reasonable time. What a relief that was! From Judy getting me worked in to the schedule, to the staff at the front desk who checked me in (and surprised me by hand-delivering my insurance card back to me while I sat in the waiting area), to Andrew who roomed and bandaged me, to Charles who treated me, to Nicki, Bonnie and the others, you were all amazing. Thank you so much for your great care and service. Everyone was kind, friendly, professional, and compassionate. You put a positive spin on what otherwise would have been a drawn out and delayed and frustrating experience. My hand and I truly appreciate and thank you!
  • Dr. Adamson is the ultimate professional. The office operation is efficient and responsive.
  • I was referred to Dr. Kent Marangi from a client of mine for my knees which were bone on bone. I decided to do a bilateral total knee replacement so that I could get it all done at once. When Dr. Marangi was doing the replacement of the left knee he discovered that there was also a mcl ligament tear and he spent extra hours to repair that tear. He did an excellent job on both my knees and they are nice and straight. I am so glad I was referred to Dr. Marangi, I’m in week 5 post surgery and feeling stronger everyday. Mission Hospital and Community Orthopedic Medical Group are top notch care providers!
  • My appointment was on Thur April 20th. On that day i left the office with an MRI ordered for my left knee and with an appt in four weeks to see Dr. Marandola to discuss the results of the MRI and the next step. I was told when i left that someone would be calling me to schedule an MRI. I heard nothing and on Fri Aril 28th i called the office and left a message asking about the MRI and mentioning that no one had contacted me. Today is Mon May 1st and i have yet to hear anything from Community Orthopedic so i called Blue Shield. I was informed that the authorization was submitted on Fri April 28th and marked "urgent". So clearly my request for authorization for the MRI was lost in the shuffle and not submitted. Had i not called and left a message on Fri it would still presumably not have been submitted. No one returned my call to explain and apologize for the mix-up, they just submitted the forgotten paperwork and marked it "urgent". I am extremely unhappy, more so for how this was handled after i left a message alerting the staff to their oversight on Fri. If i am unable to get an MRI and have it read prior to my appt with Dr. Mandola i will be beyond dissatisfied.
  • I am happy with the care I've received at COMG. I would give this rating a 5 except that recently I had surgery and my first post-op was scheduled with the PA rather than the doctor/surgeon. I had questions related to the surgery and wanted to talk to my doctor but was told I would be seeing the PA. I ended up scheduling another appointment.
  • Everyone was friendly, helpful and explained everything I needed to know about my procedure.
  • very please with my outstanding care
  • Dr. Marrondola I feel Is one of the best Dr. I see. He has help my body to work as it should. Age will not hold me back, as long as I have a Dr like Marrondola. He is pleasant , good bedside manor, and knows his field of operation. Thank you very much for your great service.
  • I had a total right knee replacement through Dr Marandola in June 2022. The results have been extraordinary and, after four months, I don’t feel I have any restrictions. I had very little pain as I followed their pain management protocol to the letter. Dr Marandola is a great guy to talk to as he takes his time and will response to all technical questions in depth. I’m so happy with him that I insisted my wife see him for a torn ACL Dr Marandola will continue to be our surgeon of choice. Dr Marandola’s support team, especially Jason his PA are also outstanding. Very highly recommended! A+ surgeon.

  • About five years ago, I had a major tear of my upper hamstring while playing softball. My regular doctor recommended physical therapy and the physical therapist said it would probably take months to get me back to where I could run and play like I used to. I called Dr. Evangelista and he suggested something that was relatively new at the time, a PRP (Plasma Rich Platelets) injection. It worked like a charm. In less than three weeks I was running with no pain and have had no issues with my hamstring since. I highly recommend Dr. Evangelista if you are trying to avoid a major surgery, as you may find out that major surgery is not necessary. Any sports Related injury, Dr. Evangelista should be your first call. He It's easy to speak to and communicates in terms that are easy to understand for those with no medical experience. The office staff is very friendly and efficient.

  • I could not sit, or sleep, only walk or stand. After 2 weeks of trying to work through my back pain and sciatica pain, I had an MRI. My MRI revealed a 6mm herniated disc at L4-L5, and a disc shift at L3-L4. Dr. Burdi recommended a series of epidurals to directly attack the herniated disc and associated back pain. Immediately following the first set of epidurals I experienced great relief. At least 60% of my pain was gone and I was sleeping through the night at last! Dr. Burdi recommended that I try another round of epidurals to help with the lingering discomfort and pain. After 3 weeks passed I had another set of epidurals and was very pleased with the results. Immediately another 25% of my pain was gone. The whole experience was very pleasant and I am so thankful to Dr. Burdi and his staff as well as the Surgery Center for the great care.

  • I saw Dr. Burdi for ACDF surgery for my C4-5, 5-6, and 6-7 on September 9, and could not be happier with the results, including my pre-operative and post-operative care. I had been in extreme pain from a herniated disc on my C6-7 and severe arthritis in my neck, C4-5. By the time I saw Dr. Burdi I had been in pain for six weeks and he was able to diagnose the problem immediately. I also suffered from numbness in the left arm, including muscle weakness. Dr. Burdi explained my options, and directed me to videos on the COMG website, which was very informative. I would highly recommend the surgery to anyone who has been suffering pain similar to mine. My thanks and appreciation to Dr. Burdi and team at Community Orthopedic Medical Group! I’m extremely pleased with the care I received and I'm pain free!

I needed meds and ice for my back starting day 4 stopped all meds besides anti inflammatory and spasm meds By week 2-3 walking pain free Now striving for 10000 steps a day Dr burdie and his staff gave me back my life. At 71 and a avid golfer spending my life in a wheelchair was not a option Pat his surgery coordinator helped me schedule all my pre op test and i had my surgery within 10 days of my decision to proceed If you are in pain and not living your life to the fullest because of back pain please go see Dr Burdie He changed my life for the better Thank you Dr Burdi

  • When I came to Dr. Burdi’s office I had exhausted my options for treating and addressing my chronic neck pain. I was treated for over seven months with physical therapy, epidural injections, and oral steriods; none of these worked. Surgical options felt extreme, but after consulting with Dr. Burdi, he was able to explain the procedure and assure me that I had exhausted all other options. Dr. Burdi’s team at the surgery center was kind and informative and my C5-C6 cervical disc replacement surgery went perfectly. Post-operative care at the surgery center was also amazing. They helped me manage post-surgery pain and cared for like I was a family member. I am 6 weeks post-op and feeling great and relieved from the pain I had lived with for over a year. Thank you Community Orthopedic, Dr. Burdi, Tyler, and Ann for helping me feel like myself again!

  • I'm a long time patient of Community Orthopedic for all my soccer injuries, but when I hurt my back lifting furniture in Dec. '21, I was nervous. I saw Dr. Burdi and PA, Tyler. They quickly diagnosed me with herniated disc in S1-L5. The sciatica was so bad that by mid Jan '22, I couldn't stand, walk, or sit for more than 2 minutes. I ended up having the laminectomy microdiscectomy. I am one week post-op and I have no sciatic pain- I am able to walk twice a day for 30 minutes each and can stand for long periods of time. Dr. Burdi is direct and to the point and sets very real expectations because he is so knowledgeable. They have done so many of these surgeries that based on my symptoms he knew it was the perfect solution for me. Tyler spent a lot of time talking me through my injury, what the MRI showed, and how the surgery would work. They answered all of my questions and took me step by step through the entire process so that I wasn't nervous. I'm very grateful for their care

  • If you want to have a friendly chat, do not see Dr Burdi. However, if you are interested in an excellent surgeon who can fix your problem see this doctor. A nerve pain from a herniated disc had rendered me literally incapacitated. Couldn't stand, couldn't sit, I thought life as I knew it was over. After several procedures Dr Burdi was able to quickly approve surgery. Long story short, I woke up from surgery with absolutely zero pain. I did not even need one pain pill post surgery. Dr Burdi gave me my active tennis playing life back, and I am extremely grateful. Also a big shout out to his staff including Pat, who had a lot of patience and always answered the phone, and Tyler, a very capable and knowledgeable PA.

  • I have been going to COMG for many years. I have been a patient of Dr. Marangi, Dr. Evangelista, Dr. Morris, and Dr. Burdi. Every doctor/surgeon that has treated me has been great. My most recent surgery was for my rotator cuff and bicep tendon by Dr. Marangi. The surgery went smoothly and the after care was excellent too. My shoulder is back to being fully functional and virtually pain free. I can golf and woodwork again with no shoulder pain. I am extremely happy. I highly recommend Dr Marangi and COMG to anyone needing orthopedic help.
